Venue: BSS-Do, Unit 3, Thane Works, Thane Villas, Finsbury Park, London, N7 7NU

The goal of this workshop is to deepen our understanding about the role of psoas and pelvis in TRE. We will explore anatomical interconnectedness of the psoas and the pelvis with surrounding organs and tissues. Often this area of the body holds excess charge and limits the natural movements. We will learn about the connection between our pelvic area, body sensations, deep seated emotions and hightened sense or dissociated sense often present in the body. Through practical exercises we will learn how to use gentle but powerful interventions to help deepen our own and client’s process.

TRE Workshop: TRE for Children with Dr Melanie Salmon (hosted by Steph Hodgson)
Date: 17-18 Jun 2017, 10.00-17.30
Venue: The Columbia Hotel, Lancaster Gate, London, United Kingdom
Cost: £220 BOOK NOW

This workshop is a special opportunity to study with Dr Melanie Salmon who has worked extensively in South Africa, teaching TRE to traumatised children and their carers. Watch Dr Melanie Salmon speaking about her work, and what we will cover in this training: https://vimeo.com/199417883

Dr Salmon is a medical doctor and a Certified TRE Trainer in South Africa. She spent three years working with Dr David Berceli spreading TRE throughout South Africa. There are now over 800 Certified TRE Providers and 14 Certified TRE Trainers in South Africa, with a further 6 being mentored.

Dr Salmon has also worked with marginalized township communities. Between 2012 and 2014 she did ground-breaking work introducing TRE to hundreds of traumatized children and youth. She has trained staff of NGOs as TRE facilitators through adapted TRE training programs, to assist her taking TRE out to these communities.

During this work she has been supported, by Dr David Berceli and TRE Foundation scientists in the USA, to gather research data and have it analyzed. The three major outcomes based research projects were

Childrens SOS village in Cape Town 2013( 120 children, 23 staff)
Chrysalis Academy for youth 2012( 152 girls aged 17-24, 15 staff)
Cape Flats Primary school children (60 over 2 years)

The aim of the two day intensive weekend is to share the insights and lessons learned from working with children on these research projects and provide guidelines to how to work with different groups.

Working with small children
Developmental trauma
Childhood PTSD …. the medical update
Working with youth
Special traumas (sexual abuse and rape: issues of shame)
Ethics and minors

Dr Salmon will also share ‘Diseases of the Freeze’; medical illnesses and syndromes that results from decades of having a dysfunctional autonomic nervous system. These medical problems are amenable to TRE. TRE balances and recalibrates the autonomic nervous system. For example we know that childhood trauma, untreated, often appears 30 years later as fibromyalgia and related inflammatory conditions.
