TRE London 2024

Train as a Certified TRE® Provider in One Year

TRE College is excited to offer a new, fast-track, immersive program to learn to safely teach Tension and Trauma Exercises in one year.

This programme will equip you to safely guide clients and groups through TREs innovative series of exercises, to support the body to release deep muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma.

How will the one year course work?

The new model offers a much clearer structure to support students through the certification program, with fixed deadlines for completion of home study and supervision. (You will also only need to pay once, at the start of the training) Go to Course Fees

The training includes:

  • Two three day modules, London Go to Venue
  • Six group supervisions, Online
  • Seven 1:1 supervisions, Online
  • Feedback on assessments

Why has the TRE training format changed?

In November 2022 TRE for All, Inc (the worldwide governing body for TRE) updated the guidance for TRE Certification Trainings. In the old model of certification training there were a range of three two day modules that could be attended and supervision was self organised. Unfortunately the flexibility meant that many keen students struggled to complete competencies on time and ended up not graduating,

In the new model there are two three day modules and significant parts of supervision is done via group supervision on predetermined dates. The 1:1 supervision is still self organised, but the landmarks and timeframe are much more focused.

Who can train?

There will be an expectation of some existing skills and training as therapist or teacher. Candidates will be expected to have already had sustained practice of TRE and had some one to one sessions with a Certified TRE Provider.

There will be a pre course interview to discuss your suitability to train as a Certified TRE Provider. The interview is an important part of being accepted onto the training. The interview will be used to help screen out people who may not be ready to learn to teach TRE.

When considering the course it is essential you consult your diary to check you can attend the scheduled modules, fit in the required number of group supervisions from the predetermined list and book individual 1:1 personal TRE and final certification sessions on the predetermined days with the Primary CT. After Module 1 you will need to plan 1:1 supervision sessions with your Assigned TRE Mentor, 1:1 supervision sessions are offered as part of their normal clinic practice hours, these are not usually at weekends or evenings.

Please also reflect on your willingness to deepen into your personal TRE practice and complete the written Assessments on time.

TRE London 2024 Training Timeline

Below is the schedule of predetermined events for the course. If we have more than the minimum number of trainees required to run the course there will be extra supervision sessions and extra TRE Mentors added to the training program.

In organising the training we really want to keep to the advertised schedule. Sometimes unforeseen things happen, so we reserve the right to change the dates. In the unlikely event of needing to change event dates (supervision groups are more likely to change than modules or final certification dates) we will give as much warning as possible.

You need to book six group supervision sessions during the year of the course, there are many possible groups to choose from run by the teaching team. Please spread out your bookings over the lifecycle of the course. In the first half of the course please try to book groups with your Assigned TRE Mentor.

Teaching Team

Summary of Certification Requirements (from Mar 2023)

  • Attend Two 3 Day Workshops: Trainee must attend two in-person TRE training workshops: Module 1 (3 days, Personal TRE Process and Teaching TRE to Individuals), Module 2 (3 days, Teaching TRE to Individuals and Groups)
  • Complete all 1:1 Supervision and Group Supervision requirements:
    • You will need to book seven 1:1 supervision sessions: Two with your Primary or Secondary Certification Trainer (CT) within one month of Module 1 for 'personal TRE'. Four with your Assigned TRE Mentor. One final certification session (between 11-12 months after the start of the course) with your Primary or Secondary CT.
    • You will need to book six group supervisions: These can be booked with any of the teaching team. Depending on the timings, the themes will be 'personal TRE', 'teaching individuals', 'teaching groups'. Make sure you spread your group supervisions throughout the length of the course and that the themes match your supervision needs.
  • Complete all Assessments: The themes of supervision and assessments develop through out the course. Assessments are written work submitted to your Assigned TRE Mentor. As well as the journaling, there are written assessments on your understanding of elements of TRE theory. You will need to write up your personal TRE sessions and reflections on teaching individuals, on your case study and teaching groups. The trainee needs to read the required literature and watch DVDs.

Summary of Supervision Events

  • Supervision on 'personal TRE': Minimum of two 1:1 supervision sessions with your Primary or Secondary CT within one month of Module 1. A total of four 'personal TRE' supervision sessions are required. The preferred option is completing 'personal TRE' in 1:1 supervision with your Assigned TRE Mentor as they will be reading your journal. (N.B. It is possible in some cases to complete your 'personal TRE' with any of the Teaching Team in group supervision). You will need to complete 40 Hours of Journaling TRE Practice as part of your personal TRE journey.
  • Supervision on 'teaching individuals': Minimum of two 1:1 supervision sessions with your Assigned TRE Mentor. A total of four 'teaching individuals' supervision sessions are required. The preferred option is completing 'teaching individuals' in 1:1 supervision with your Assigned TRE Mentor as they will be marking your write ups and case studies. (N.B. It is possible in some cases to complete your 'teaching individuals' with any of the Teaching Team in group supervisions). You will need to teach and record (usually video) working with at least five different clients. You will teach four new individual clients in single sessions. You will teach one new individual client over four sessions as a case history, the case history is advised to start after Module 2.
  • Supervision on 'teaching groups': Minimum of one 1:1 supervision sessions with your Assigned TRE Mentor. A total of four 'teaching groups' supervision sessions are required. You can complete your 'teaching groups' with any of the Teaching Team in group supervision. You will teach and record (usually video) a minimum of four groups and get supervision on each group, 'teaching groups' practice starts after Module 2.
  • Final Certification Session: The trainee must complete one final certification session with the Primary or Secondary CT between 11-12 months after the start of the course.
  • Extra Supervision: Supervision is an ongoing negotiation depending on your existing skills, your study progress and time taken to complete assessments. The completion of the above minimum requirements does not guarantee you will be graduate as a Certified TRE Provider. Sometimes it becomes clear that personal process or teaching skills need more time. This will be decided in agreement with the Primary CT. If more time is needed the first step to continuing your study will be a minimum of four extra 1:1 supervision sessions charged at the hourly rate of your Assigned TRE Mentor.

Timings and Glossary

  • Timings: The certification process is scheduled to take between 11-12 months. TRE events attended prior to Module 1 (3 day) do not contribute to the certification process (N.B. For students signed up to the course, 1:1 personal TRE sessions with course TRE Mentors may contribute). TRE for All, Inc requires 10 months minimum and 24 months maximum time to complete. If not complete in 12 months, extra supervision will be required as agreed with the Primary CT. If not complete in 24 months then the entire program needs to be retaken. Module 2 (3 day) is recommended 3-8 months post Module 1 (3 day). The student will not be able to use TRE in their professional practice or charge a fee for teaching TRE until they are fully certified.
